John F. Kennedy opened its doors for the first time in September of 1965. The school was named for the 35th president of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, who had been assassinated in Dallas, Texas in 1963. The school's motto "We're On Our Way With JFK" was suggested by Roy Lebel, then a kindergarten student, not long after the building opened.
Today JFK houses approximately 445 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Approximately eighty staff members meet the needs of students in all areas from playground supervision to speech and language development.
